I have always loved looking at how people redo their yards when I read my do it yourself magazines. The first time I saw a pond in one, I realized that is what I wanted to. Take note of bananas that are firm and have a bright yellow skin and free of bruises. Once the solid yellow skin has a few shades of brown, you can start eating the banana. Don’t choose bananas that are too brown, obviously aged, have bruises all over and have green tips. Buy from farmers who practise organic gardening to avoid all these.
You can get blueberries mostly in May all the way through September. Take note of blue berries that are dark yet have a silver coating. The best blue berries to buy are the ones that are plump, firm, perfectly round, dry and have little to no leaves and stem. Blue berries that are mushy and soft are a big no-no.
The sweet cherries are best eaten as desert with ice cream. They are available from May onwards and can be found mainly in the Western states. Use sour and softer cherries that have a light red and tart flavor when cooking desserts and making pies.
